Canadian Apparel Insights Retail Apparel Update Aritzia’s Canadian sales increased 17.0% in its Q1 2025. Canada’s largest apparel e-commerce retailers in 2024 were Shein, lululemon, Aritzia and Amazon. Canadian 2024 luxury apparel/accessory sales declined 2.7% to C$2.72 billion. Canada’s athleisure market increased by 4.6% in 2024. Lululemon during 2024 sourced 40% of its products from Vietnam, 17% from Cambodia, 11% from Sri Lanka, 11% from Indonesia, 7% from Bangladesh and the remaining 14% from other countries. The Canadian Apparel Federation and Circana teamed up to present an update on the Canadian apparel market.  In a 30-minute webinar, Alecsandra Hancas of Circana shared insights from the firm’s research: Planned cuts in spending across eight segments are deepest in restaurants (68%) and apparel (52%) Beauty was an outlier in a soft market, with 19% growth over 12 months to September 2023. CORE launches new investigation

CORE, the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise, has launched an investigation into Zara Canada Inc. in response to a complaint filed by a coalition of 28 civil society organizations. This is its eighth investigation into allegations of Uyghur forced labour in the supply chains and operations of Canadian companies.   Among other objections, Zara contends that CORE lacks jurisdiction to review the complaint.
