Canadian Sustainable Apparel and Textile Trade Mission to China — September 6 - 9, 2026

The Government of Canada is organizing a Canadian Sustainable Apparel and Textile Trade Mission to China, scheduled for September 6 - 9, 2026. The mission will connect Canadian fashion brands and circular economy enablers with Chinese sustainable fashion stakeholders, including e-commerce platforms, brand management companies, showroom buyers, and investors.

The agenda is currently being developed. Confirmed programming includes a market briefing at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, company site visits, and a Canadian showcase at China Fashion Week on September 10. Based on the draft agenda, Chinese companies expected to engage with the delegation include JD Worldwide, premium cashmere brand Erdos, fabric innovator Lancy, and major fashion and sportswear brands Ellassay and Li-Ning - providing exposure across e-commerce, retail, and sustainable manufacturing.

We are pleased to invite your company to come to China for the Canada Sustainable Fashion Mission to China, taking place September 6–9, 2026 in Beijing. This mission is designed to support Canadian fashion brands and circular‑economy innovators seeking to deepen their understanding of China’s rapidly evolving sustainable fashion landscape and explore potential commercial partnerships.

To ensure strong alignment with Canada’s sustainability objectives, participation is limited to qualified companies that demonstrate a clear sustainability focus—such as circular design, low‑impact materials, recycling technologies, traceability solutions, or other responsible innovation practices.

Please note that there is no program participation fee. However, participants are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation costs.

Afternoon: Site Visit to JD Worldwide (Fashion), transportation provided  

Topic: JD’s Global Goods Recruitment Strategy and its implications for emerging Canadian fashion brands

Since the launch of the “10 Billion Giga Growth Plan” in 2025, JD Worldwide has continued to enhance its global procurement system and integrate full‑chain cross‑border fulfillment capabilities to support overseas brands in entering the Chinese market more efficiently.

The initiative sets a clear objective: over the next three years, JD aims to introduce 1,000 new overseas brands and generate RMB 10 billion in sales.

  • How JD Worldwide plans to leverage its cross‑border import supply chain — specifically to introduce Canadian fashion brands to Chinese consumers through cross‑border e‑commerce, including direct procurement, bonded‑warehouse fulfillment, and platform‑supported brand incubation.

In addition to the Beijing program, the Trade Commissioner Service in Hong Kong is also coordinating a Canada Pavilion at CENTRESTAGE Hong Kong. CENTRESTAGE is Hong Kong’s largest annual fashion event, featuring exhibition booths, runway shows, and a strong industry presence. The show attracts approximately 25,000 trade and public visitors, primarily from Hong Kong, South China, and Southeast Asia. Attendees typically include buyers, retailers, influencers, and fashion industry professionals.

CENTRESTAGE will take place in Hong Kong from September 2 to 5, 2026. Application deadline of a women-owned funded exhibition in the Canada Pavilion has passed.
