Aritzia’s Canadian sales increased 17.0% in its Q1 2025.

Canada’s largest apparel e-commerce retailers in 2024 were Shein, lululemon, Aritzia and Amazon.

Canadian 2024 luxury apparel/accessory sales declined 2.7% to C$2.72 billion.

Canada’s athleisure market increased by 4.6% in 2024.

Lululemon during 2024 sourced 40% of its products from Vietnam, 17% from Cambodia, 11% from Sri Lanka, 11% from Indonesia, 7% from Bangladesh and the remaining 14% from other countries.

Bain is considering selling its holdings in Canada Goose.

Total retail apparel sales increased 9.2% in the first four months of 2025.

Apparel specialty store sales in Canada increased 7.7% in the first 4 months of 2025.

Canadian apparel exports decreased by 3.6% in May. Apparel exports to the U.S. were up 15.6% year to date. During May 2025 apparel imports increased 13.6% and were up 16.8% YTD.

Canadian apparel manufacturer’s sales in May 2025 increased 4.2%, however they were down 8.1% YTD.

The Canadian apparel price index (CPI) decreased 0.5% in May 2025 but was up 0.2% from a year earlier.
U.S. Apparel Insights
Retail Apparel Update

Aritzia’s U.S. sales during its Q1 2025 increased 45.1% in its 63 U.S. stores. It’s customer base increased 40% during the same period.

The elimination by the U.S. of de minimis has severely affected the sales of Shein and Temu.

Nuuly is the U.S. largest apparel renter. It has twice the number of active subscribers as Rent The Runway. Nuuly is owned by Urban Outfitters, which provides 45% of Nuuly’s product offerings.

Rent The Runway is adding 90 new brands in 2025. The effort is beginning to pay off as its platform subscribers

grew by almost 23% in its Q1 2025.

Saks Global’s sales during Q2 2025 decreased 16% compared to the previous quarter.

Levi Strauss’s total sales in the Americas increased 5.7% in the first half of 2025. Its wholesale sales increased 3.1% while its DTC sales increased 9.4%.
Key Metrics

The value of U.S. apparel imports from China fell in May 2025 to their lowest monthly level in 22 years.

In May 2025 U.S. apparel imports from Mexico increased 12%.

Sales in U.S. apparel stores during June increased 0.9% from May 2025 and were up 3.9% from a year earlier.

U.S. apparel prices increased 0.4% in June 2025 over the previous month and were down 0.5% (Y/Y).
