Description

In December, 2025 the Canadian government re-launched its initiative, first established in 2023, to update key customs valuation procedures.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) invited companies to complete a survey, which requests detailed information from importers, outlining various types of customs valuation methods they employ to import goods into Canada.

The current survey/proposals from CBSA may have a significant impact on how imported goods are valued and duties payable. Importers that have received an invitation to complete the survey have expressed concerns about the lack of clarity.

In 2023, there was considerable confusion regarding many aspects of the Canadian government’s proposal to update customs valuation rules. Some of these issues have been addressed. Many others remain outstanding.

CBSA has asked companies to complete the survey by January 23, 2026.

The webinar will discuss the survey, the CBSA proposals and how companies may wish to respond.
