Fiber Society Spring 2027 Conference in Edmonton: Submit Abstracts by February 15

The Fiber Society will hold its Spring 2027 Conference at the University of Alberta in Edmonton from June 2–4, 2027. The theme is "When Textiles Become Smart and Sustainable." The conference chairs are Prof. Patricia Dolez, Prof. Rachel McQueen and Ms. Justine Decaens of the University of Alberta.

The Society is asking for abstracts on research related to the science and engineering of fibres and fibrous materials. Themes include apparel and fashion, personal protective equipment, sportswear, sustainable textiles, smart textiles, healthcare and medical textiles, geosynthetics, and textiles and composites for transportation.

The conference is held in Canada this year. This gives Canadian researchers a chance to present their work to an international fibre science audience without overseas travel. CAF encourages members with applied research, product development or testing work to submit.

Submissions open November 3, 2026, and must be made online through The Fiber Society website. Do not email submissions. Abstracts must be in Word format; PDFs are not accepted. Formatting guidelines for oral and poster abstracts are on the submission page.

The submission deadline is February 15, 2027. Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than March 20, 2027. International presenters who need a visa should submit early.
