As the holidays approach, the Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) is ramping up activities to respond to the changing dynamics in the North American marketplace. In particular, we are working to provide information and solutions to firms impacted by the end of duty-free shipments to the US, under the de minimis program.
The end of the de minimis exemption is impacting hundreds of firms, big and small. If your firm is impacted by these changes, keep an eye out for our survey on this issue - due out in a week or so.
Many companies are pivoting to export using formal customs entries. This has implications beyond tariffs. At the end of the month we will be hosting a webinar covering product standards for the US (with a focus on smaller shippers). We have also begun work with Canadian government officials on additional sessions to support smaller companies dealing with the new realities of cross-border trade. Things are never easy, but a significant number of companies are starting to figure out ways to adjust their business plans without the benefit of duty-free, low-value shipments to the United States.... CAF launches new series of product integrity workshops |

The Canadian Apparel Federation is relaunching live product compliance / product integrity workshops in different cities across Canada. The first of these events took place on September 24 in Vancouver. Consultations on renewal of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) |
