On June 26, 2024, a Regulation was publishe d aiming to clarify certain amendments made to the Charter of the French L anguage (the &ldquo\;Charter&rdquo\;) under the much-discussed Bill 96 and to facilitate the implementation of the Charter as modified by Bill 96. B uilding on an earlier draft published in January 2024 the Regulation provi des specifics and concessions regarding the regime applicable to the use o f trademarks in languages other than French on packaging and signage.

hlight the circumstances where changes to the Charter were instituted in B
ill 96. \; There continues to be confusion and lack of knowledge as to
what French requirements already existed, and what changes were made by B
ill 96. \; To add to the confusion, Bill 96 initially proposed more st
ringent rules that were walked back in the end. The webinar will clarify t
hese points.
